Jordi Sabat’s paintings appear as antiqued vestiges, bringing forth an air of nostalgia for moments passed. Blurred by the passage of time these memories remain only in essence. His pictures adhere to a world of emotions, the passage of time fixed momentarily by a fronzen image, infultrated by the world of dreams, play and illusion.

Jordi’s unique painting technique derives from his experience with furniture restoration. He blurs the picture by integrating a patina into the fabric of his canvas.

Book Series: His book series is addressing the concept of the book as an object of fetish, worship, respect, communication, culture, learning, as well as emotions, memories and dreams. He places prominence on the book as our written guide, the main source containing all there is to know about the emotional and rational, and therefor it is the ideal companion – like a box, it holds endless surprises.

Umbilical Series: The umbilical cord is the element that unites two extremes, it also unites the start and the end. "Umbilical" is a metaphor for life, for all those things that unite us and which, through this communicating thread, provide nourishment and allow us to give and take. It is not meant to be a straight line, without entanglements, twists, or knots. This is because it is a path full of hardships but nevertheless allows us to come together and remain bonded even if the connection is severed.
