As an artist, Guillermo Pacheco felt the need to sink into his culture, which, from the beginning of his artistic career, was already in his subconscious. He traveled through geographically diverse areas, from the coast to the sierra, past colonial cities, indigenous villages and archeological sites, picking up the images and symbols that became the material of his pictorial narrative. Look at his intricate landscapes, beyond the recognizable shapes, sketches of the domes and bell towers that typify the skyline of colonial towns, outlines of the geometrically arranged adobe and mud-walled shacks of villages, allegories, in vernacular architecture, that catch the traveler’s attention. In this way, mixing images with his fantasies and hallucinations, this artist fashions the landscapes which are his hallmark.
