Alireza Varzandeh is known for his luminous paintings of everyday life, capturing fleeting moments with remarkable energy, atmosphere, and emotional resonance. In this latest body of work, beach scenes are brought to life through expressive brushwork, radiant color, and a masterful sensitivity to light. Figures drift through sunlit landscapes with an effortless sense of rhythm, their identities intentionally softened to evoke universal moments of leisure, memory, and human connection. The result is a body of work that feels both immediate and enduring.
Though rooted in observation, Varzandeh's paintings move beyond representation to capture the feeling of a place rather than its precise likeness. Confident, gestural brushwork and richly layered color dissolve and redefine forms, creating compositions that shimmer with movement and atmosphere. His paintings invite viewers to linger, revealing new relationships of light, color, and gesture with each viewing.
Born in Shiraz, Iran, and now working in Spain, Varzandeh studied at the University of Tehran before earning a master's degree in Graphic Arts and Fine Painting from the College of Art and Design in Cologne. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout Europe and internationally, including presentations at the Museum of Modern Art in Tehran, the City Museum in Siegburg, and Art Karlsruhe in Germany.
